SOU Names Marc Tramonte Executive Director of Marketing and Communications

(Ashland, Ore.) Marc Tramonte has accepted the position of Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Southern Oregon University (SOU). Tramonte will be responsible for assuring the brand image and culture of Southern Oregon University are effectively communicated and consistent in all publications and that the presentation in advertising, publications, and the website is relevant, accurate, engaging, and highly creative. Tramonte will begin in the position April 1.
“Marc brings an array of leadership, communication, and technology skills as well as a deep understanding of how to market to a national audience,” says SOU President Mary Cullinan.  “This position is key to our transformational change efforts. Marc will work with our Marketing and Communications team and with individuals and offices all over campus to help us realize our vision of being a distinctive campus that thrives in the volatile, competitive environment of the 21st century.”
Tramonte has worked the last two years as founder and managing partner of Foots Creek Consulting, Inc., based in Bellevue, Wash., specializing in large-scale Web publishing management, demand generation and lead acquisition strategies and programs, content development and marketing, email marketing, data integration/warehousing, and CRM technology enablement. Prior to that he served 16 years in management roles at Microsoft, with positions as director of digital marketing for Windows Phone 7 and the Campaign Landing Platform on Microsoft.com, and as group marketing manager for Microsoft’s US business marketing organization. Before that, he worked as senior manager for training development and delivery at Apple, Inc.
“I am thrilled to be joining SOU, and eager to contribute to the further development and growth of the University and the region,” says Tramonte.
“Southern Oregon is my new home, and Southern Oregon University is both my new workplace and sincere passion. There are many opportunities to apply the proven marketing and communications practices learned in the tech industry to the challenges and opportunities at SOU.”
Tramonte has a BA in Communications Sciences from the University of Connecticut and a certificate in High Technology Company Management from the AEA/Stanford Graduate School of Business.
