SOU president launches podcast for ongoing conversation with students

Southern Oregon University President Rick Bailey uses the “Raider Up with President Rick” podcast to connect regularly with students and prospective students, and maintain a productive conversation about their academic needs and experiences.

President Bailey uses this fourth episode of the “Raider Up” podcast to address questions about SOU’s commitment to students from rural areas, whether he may at some point teach military history or other courses, his musical preferences and some favorite moments from his first academic year at SOU.

He thanked the students who submitted questions, and emphasized that the ones most likely to be addressed in future podcasts are broad questions with university-wide interest. More specific questions that are submitted may be forwarded to particular departments or offices on campus to be answered privately.

The “Raider Up” podcast tackles new topics each month, with the theme of each month’s episode driven by student input. Students can post in the “questions” sticker in SOU’s Instagram stories at @souashland, or can email questions to SOU News. All submissions should be relevant and respectful.

The podcast is moderated by SOU Marketing and Communication student employee Nash Bennett. Listeners can find and subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other platforms.
