Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon presents “Music in Film,” a lecture by Larry Groupé

(Ashland, Ore.) – The Music program of the Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University presents a lecture on music in film by award-winning composer Larry Groupé on Wednesday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall at Southern Oregon University. The lecture is an in-depth discussion about the current state of composing musical scores in Hollywood. Admission is free.
Groupé has many years of experience in the industry. His musical scores have been featured in well-known films and television series, such as “Straw Dogs,” “The Contender,” “Commander in Chief,” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” His lecture presents an insider’s perspective on composing for film and television musical scores.
“With the attraction of the film industry to Ashland and the strong music program here at the Oregon Center for the Arts at SOU, this lecture will be useful for anyone interested in careers in music and film/TV, or anyone interested in learning more about film and music,” said Terry Longshore, professor of music at SOU. “Larry Groupé is a dynamic speaker who draws upon his wealth of experience to examine many facets of the industry in this presentation.”
