(Ashland, Ore.) – The Music program of the Department of Performing Arts at Southern Oregon University presents saxophonist Kenneth Tse, winner of the prestigious New York Artists International Award and the National Alliance for Excellence’s Alex Award, in addition to many others. Tse’s singular performance in Southern Oregon will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday, Oct. 7 in the Music Recital Hall on the SOU campus. Admission is free of charge. Read more

SOU Department of Performing Arts Hosts Over 100 Rogue Valley Student Musicians for High School Honor Band Weekend & Concert

(Ashland, Ore.) – Southern Oregon University’s Department of Performing Arts presents the eighteenth annual High School Honor Band event on Saturday, Feb. 2 and Sunday, Feb. 3.  Held in the SOU Music Building and climaxing with a concert on Sunday, February 3 at 1:30 pm in the Recital Hall, over one hundred selected high school band students will come together under the direction of Dr. James Klein and Dr. Cynthia Hutton, Director of Bands at SOU. The concert is open to the public and admission is free of charge.

Southern Oregon University names new Director of Performing Arts

Talented new faculty also join SOU’s performing arts program

(Ashland, Ore.) Southern Oregon University announces the appointment of David Humphrey, PhD, as Director of Performing Arts at the university. Dr. Humphrey has more than 30 years of professional executive management and artistic production experience. Most recently he was the Director of the Museum of Performance & Design in San Francisco. Before that he worked at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., as the Director of Education and as executive producer of a joint project between The Kennedy Center and the Metropolitan Opera Guild.
