    Dr.Mary Cullinan,

I’m impressed with your message and the web site your staff has helped you develop. It is a first class effort that has been needed for a long time.

Thank you for the reflections you stated regarding the football game and the role of Southern Oregon University supporters. There are many alums who have pride in SOU. My wife La Verne (Class of 1958) and I (Class of 1957) hold SOU dear to our heart. We met there and went off to make a difference in the world through our role as teachers. I think we succeeded! She taught six years of first graders and I taught science and coached for twelve years at Marshfield High in Coos Bay, OR.We moved to Salem in 1970 when I assumed the role of State Science Education Specialist K-12 at the Oregon Department of Education. I retired May 1994 and La Verne retired as a testing proctor at Chemekata CC in 1995. We now travel to different parts of the world. Great time in our lives.

By the way, I too graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. I earned a Master Teacher of Science in 1962, with support from the National Science Foundation. Ray
