Percussion & Contemporary Music Concerts Coming Up

March is the month for concerts, beginning with two directed by Terry Longshore, a professor of music and the director of percussion studies. The first is Steve Reich’s ‘Music for 18 Musicians,’ featuring the SOU Contemporary Music Ensemble on Friday, March 9 at 7:30pm in the Music Recital Hall. Considered one of Reich’s best works, “Music for 18 Musicians” displays the accomplishments of percussionists as well as other musicians and singers. Continue reading

Update from Spain!

Dr. Terry Longshore, Professor of Music, has spent the last week in Sevilla, Spain where he is taking in lots of music, studying castañuelas (castanets), accompaniment, going to concerts, and researching Spanish cajón design.
